Dark Island Residential Cruise Ship

Clydebuilt was formed to address the dereliction of opportunity on the Clyde, founded by executives with a wealth of experience gained in worldwide shipyards, offshore projects, design engineering, and product development. Clydebuilt have a coalescence of partners and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds including travel, hospitality, events, tourism, and education.

In 2015, Clydebuilt started planning construction of the 220 metre (720ft) Dark Island residential cruise ship, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through policy and practice for sustainability and green initiatives, which will have minimum effect on the environment. In October 2021, Clydebuilt announced Dark Island is at production ready stage and the exclusive, luxury suites are now available to purchase. The ship is scheduled to set sail late 2025.

The Dark Island is designed and will be built to last at least 50 years, with the latest air handling filtration systems and environmental safety measure protocols to combat infections; it will be one of the safest places on earth to live.

The Dark Island residential cruise ship is ultra-luxurious, private and, if required, the top two decks with lavish interiors can be completely self-contained with extensive staff areas, which have the making for a separate residence fit for family and friends, while the lower decks can be commercial, private or residential. There are no tourists on board, just residents. There is a code of confidentiality and privacy on the Dark Island.

The Dark Island offers adventurous itineraries, visiting destinations around the world and experiencing numerous expeditions to unusual and exciting places. Lectures, forums, discussions and field trips by leading academics will precede the destinations and expeditions.
